  • Chic Comfy Boots for Moms

I have three children between the ages of 9 and 23 months so I know that mom life can be rough but we don’t have to look it. I’m always looking for mom-friendly alternatives to the latest trends especially shoes since I need them to work for my busy lifestyle. Most of us moms literally are running after our kids on a daily basis so I wanted to share three comfy boots we all need this fall to look chic this fall.

    Dr. Martens 1460

I love Dr. Martens 1460 boots so, so much! I bought the W style a few weeks ago for both myself and my toddler and they’ve been my everyday go-to boot so far this fall. I also like the Smooth and the Farrah that my oldest daughter has. They look great with everything– dresses, jeans, skirts, jumpsuits, etc. They’re also very comfortable and they’re great quality so you don’t have to worry about wearing them out quickly. I would recommend going up one size in these boots. That’s what the store manager mentioned when I purchased them, and I agree, they feel great. Instead of wearing them with the black laces that they come with, I swapped them out with while laces for a fresh look.

    Snakeskin boots

    Chic Comfy Boots for moms

Leopard has been replaced by snakeskin and you can find it everywhere this fall. Finding the perfect pair boots really depends on your personal style and lifestyle but the two silhouettes I’m loving in snakeskin are ankle boots and over-the-knee boots. I found the perfect pair at Lulu’s. This is the perfect pair to wear to the office or to go out to catch . up with a friend. It’s very comfy and the heel is perfect for moms who rarely wears heels. I found these other really fun styles.

    White Boots

Okay, so this one might be a little controversial because motherhood and white probably don’t seem like the best idea and there is that old rule about no white after Labor Day. Here’s the thing, white boots can be cleaned very easily if they get soiled just like any color. I’m loving all of the slouchy white boots that came out this fall and I have my eye on this ASOS pair.

  • 3 Ways to Prepare Your Baby’s Clothes before Delivery

This post is in partnership with Gerber brand baby apparel. As always, all opinions are my own.

So as a veteran mom, I wanted to let you know that you have to prepare your baby’s clothes before delivery. Unlike us, babies have very sensitive skin so it’ s important that we take all precautions and be prepared before giving birth. I wanted to share three veteran mom tips that I’ve learned on my motherhood journey on preparing baby’s clothes before delivery:

3 Ways to Prepare Your Baby's Clothes before Delivery

    Purchase basic essentials.

Sure you’re going to want to leave the hospital in a special going home outfit or have special looks for photos or going out but your baby will need a ton of basic essentials like onesies, body suits, tops, pants, and sleepers. I remember people telling me this when I was pregnant with my daughter and still thinking to myself how much clothes could a baby really need?

Well after having a few blowouts and leaks on the same day and going through a bunch of clothes I realized that it was true. With my second child, we ended up buying a bunch of basics ahead of time just to be safe because let’s be honest who really has the time to do laundry when they have a fussy baby. We’ve grown to trust Gerber brand baby apparel for basics in the past so it was great to know that they now have a special collection of coordinated mix and match baby basics available at Walmart. Not only are they very affordable so you don’t break the bank to stock, they’re also perfect to use as foundation pieces or for layering during colder months. I’m also a huge fan of the fact that they kept us moms in mind when they designed these pieces. For instance, the bodysuits have higher-in-the-front bottom snap closure making changing baby fast and easy, expandable lap shoulder necklines to easily put them on and off.

Prepare Your Baby's Clothes before Delivery Gerber

The collection includes adorable coordinating themes like animal-printed bodysuits, butterfly and fire truck bibs and since you’re going to need a lot of socks, embroidered socks. As you probably know Gerber has been around for generations and I even have a friend whose mom saved her Gerber baby clothes. I would load up on these for to leave at my friend’s house, stroller and for traveling with baby.

    Wash baby’s clothes

After stocking up on all the pieces that your baby will need, be sure to wash your babies clothes before putting the clothes on your baby. Ideally, you should do this before your due date. I usually purchase a hypoallergenic detergent just to ensure baby doesn’t have a skin reaction. It’s important to stay away from detergents with harsh chemicals and wash babies clothes separately from the rest of the family.

Sort your baby’s clothes by sizes

Since you’re going to get your child a lot of clothes, you will need to sort them by sizes to make life easier for yourself and whoever is helping you to care for the baby. My kids grew out of newborn sizes within the first two weeks so I purchase very few newborn pieces and focused more 0-3 months, 3-6 months pieces. I kept them all separate. You can use dividers in your child’s closet for this purpose.

I really hope these tips help you to prepare for your new baby. The more you get done before baby’s arrival, the more you can relax and bond with your new baby.

  • Relaxed Style: Harem Jumpsuit

Since I had a no-fuss weekend, I wanted to share the perfect look for chill vibes.  I’ve had this adorable San Souci print harem jumpsuit for a few weeks now and I figured it was really easy to wear as I didn’t need to use any brain power to figure out what I should pair it with. That’s the best part of jumpsuits and dresses, all you need to do is find some cute shoes to rock them with. I chose to wear them with these Old Navy espadrilles.

    Harem-Jumpsuit
Fun fact: I used to live in an area called San Souci in Grenada.

This harem jumpsuit would have looked great with any shoes from oxfords, slides to sneakers but I decided to wear them with these simple strappy sandals from Old Navy.

Unfortunately, my jumpsuit is now out of stock at San Souci but I found these really lovely alternatives. Just check out all of the options below and just click on the arrow to the right.

Have you every rocked a harem jumpsuit?

We’re very conscious and we love to have meaning and source good vibes and energy from everything including jewelry. My personal favorites are Pink Locket Amazon shop for female empowering pieces and Alex and Ani.

As I mentioned last year, I am a huge fan of The Pink Locket’s gorgeous handmade jewelry pieces. All of the pieces from The Pink Locker are designed for the woman who “….knows what she wants, she loves simplicity and complexity at times, she’s a career woman, she’s a mom, she’s a sister, daughter, wife.”

My Mother’s Day picks are these stackable copper rings because of their simple yet modern look…

  • 5 Things on my WishList | eBay Daily Deals

As a mom of two, people always ask me how I manage to look decent as expensive as kids are. Let’s be honest tuition, activity fees and even some of kids basic needs aren’t cheap. Personally, I don’t have any problem making sacrifices in my wardrobe to ensure that my kids have the things and experiences that the need to strive. One of the things that I told myself early in this motherhood journey is that I am willing to sacrifice my clothing budget but definitely not my style. I know that you can find nice clothing at just about any price point if you do enough research. I was trying to find a pair of sneakers at a discounted rate a few years ago online, when I stumbled on eBay and I immediately got hooked. Since then I’ve not only saved money by purchasing some cool pieces on the website but I also sold a few pieces that I no longer wear. I love logging on to check out the daily deals on eBay.

I’m always confident that I get the best price on eBay. That’s one of the things that I love about the internet, I can compare prices of products in less than a minute. 15 years ago, I was heading to an event with a very small shopping budget. I really wanted to wear something nice without breaking my budget. I  ended up spending hours at the mall going back and forth between stores trying to find the perfect price. In the end,  I ended up getting what I wanted but it was at the cost of getting back home so late that I almost missed the event. Luckily, those days are over and I can check for daily deals on eBay when I need a few things.

My summer wishlist includes the following:

    sunglasses

    1. Rayban Wayfarers

I love these sunglasses and they look really great on me. I owned a pair and can you believe that I lost them? I’m forever hoping that they turn up somewhere but unfortunately they haven’t. That means that I may need to purchase another pair and I recently spotted them on the eBay daily deals for a fraction of the regular price.

    rayban

As I mentioned before, I am all about wearing comfortable shoes and I’ve spied a few cute pairs on eBay daily deals.

    2. These Vans canvas sneakers are definitely summer chic, I love the Flamingo print and vibrant colors. These sneakers would look great with just about anything.

    3. Toms are a modern staple. They are timeless and comfortable shoes, I need a pair for running around NYC with two kids.

    4. You can’t ever have too much leopard in your wardrobe and these leopard slip-on sneakers are just too cute.

    5. Earlier this week, in my What’s in my bag post I shared all the things in my summer on-the-go bag. You may have noticed that I didn’t have a wallet and that’s because I really need to get one. Since red is one of my favorite colors for bags and accessories this Michael Kors wallet caught my attention. Michale Kors wallets are usually expensive but its been sold at a really great price as part of eBay daily deals.

  • Always Wear Your Flower Crown

My latest video features some of my daughters current favorite hair accessories. One of the major Spring 2014 trends featured in the video is flower crowns.

    flower crown

Flowers crowns are fresh and modern making them fantastic to add a bit of nature to your look. They’re not just for kids though, this is one of the styles that adults wouldn’t look ridiculous rocking. Many of the major fashion retailers offer flower crowns that are marketed for adults this season.

This is the perfect accessory to complement a bohemian inspired outfit and to wear to the beach, a music festival, wedding or baby shower. Since we here at Rattles and Heels  live by the rule that a lady should always wear her crown. Here are some beautiful flower crowns for you to wear regally.

    Flower Crowns

Don’t be scared to experiment with wearing your flower crown in different styles. You can wear it several different ways including along hairline, on the crown of your head, backwards with the flowers at the back,or as part of a vintage hair roll. Don’t be afraid to just be bold, confident and have fun with it.

If you don’t want to shell out cash for a flower crown, a DIY one is only a few fake flowers, a ribbon and a hot gun away.

What do you think about the flower crown trend?

  • Fabulous Spring Maternity Fashion Inspired By Ciara

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you know by now that Ciara and her fiancé, rapper Future are expecting their first child together. “Cici” as her fans affectionately call her is currently our favorite maternity fashionista. What we love most about Ciara’s maternity style is that it’s comfortable yet cute. The last thing you want to do to your swollen feet is squeeze them into heels daily or stuff your baby bump into a pencil skirt.

But Ciara’s taken comfort to another level. Skipping body-con dresses for looser styles, switching killer heels for cute sneakers and sandals, she’s mastered the pregnant, stylish and comfortable look. Who else can pull off caftans?

    Cici

She isn’t afraid to experiment with new trends which keeps her maternity style modern and edgy. I love how she paired these cool gladiator sandals with a comfortable white dress and sunglasses.
