  • 2015 Kia Sedona Review

Vehicle was provided for the 2015 Kia Sedona Review.  As always, all opinions are my own.

One time while I was pregnant with my first kid, my husband and I were heading into a hardware store. We happened to be walking past a minivan when a guy rolled up alongside us and pointed out some scratches on the minivan.  He got out of his car quickly and started to negotiate “I’ll give you a special price to fix your van  before your baby comes.”  We immediately got upset and scolded him “Dude, that’s not our minivan! We will NEVER drive one of those!” After we got the anger out, we laughed and laughed at the thought of us driving a minivan. We even joked that we should of had him work on the van and hide when the real owners came out. There was no way we looked like minivan people and no way we were ever going to drive one. No way! Well, that all changed last week. Not only we did we drive a minivan but Mr. Rattles can’t finish gushing about how nicely “that car” drives (Yes, he flat out refused to call it a minivan). The minivan we had drove was the 2015 Kia Sedona SX which starts at starts at $36,000. Let me start by saying that the 2015 Kia Sedona, will have you rethink all of your reasons for not wanting anything to do with a minivan. I wanted to do this review for the parents like myself who have sworn off Minivans. I know there are tons of us out there, so here are 7 reasons you may want to consider the Kia Sedona SX:

    1. Kids LOVE Them

I learned something important while driving the Kia Sedona. Minivans are not about you, they are about your kids. They are designed to take your kids around in style. My daughter was excited because one of her friend’s parents also drives a minivan and she loves driving around in it with them. To her it’s just so much fun. In the 2015 Kia Sedona she had her own sunroof, captain seat, tons of space for her toys and other random things and she could stand in it. For some reason standing in a minivan is super cool for a kid! The cabin space is also luxurious and I enjoyed the luxury of my own sunroof.  My son hates the sunroof while I love it, so two sun roofs worked perfectly for us.

    2. Space

The 2015 Kia Sedona is extremely spacious. We used it for our road trip to Philadelphia and we packed our entire family of 4 plus all of our stuff with no problem. The trunk is very deep and so I was able to fit stroller, scooters, luggage and some tech comfortably. In addition to the trunk, there is lots of space inside of the minivan for additional storage. The model I drove was the SX trim has slide and stow second row seats. Let’s say you ever need to buy a new crib or television set, you’ll have all the room you need to transport it.

    3. Road Trips

After taking this road trip in the Kia Sedona, I’m convinced that this is one of the best ways to road trip with kids. While on the road, when my daughter fell asleep I was able to recline her seat and put up her footrest so she could sleep comfortably. If you take road trips frequently, you may want to consider the Kia Sedona for your kids comfort.

    4. Sleek Design

    2015-kia-sedona

The Kia Sedona has a really slick design. It’s clearly one of the most attractive minivans on the market.

    5. Big Family

If you have more than 2 kids you may want to consider getting a minivan. It makes life with kids much easier as you’re able to pack all their stuff and ride comfortably without any trouble. I drive an SUV and minivan was way easier in comparison.

    6. Gas

This minivan is definitely not a gas guzzler, it’s was really fantastic on gas. I used only one tank of gas for the week that I drove it and that included a good trip to Philadelphia from New York City and back. Gas milelage is 18 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.

    7. Surround view monitor

    surround-view-monitor

The Kia Sedona has all the bells and whistles of the Kia Sorento and is quite luxurious. I love all the awesome safety features such as such as blind spot detection but my favorite feature was the surround view monitor and alert system which made parking very easy. You’re able to better understand your distance to other vehicles and pedestrians thanks to this awesome feature.

  • 5 Tips For Surviving NYC Summers With Huggies Simply Clean Wipes

I had an old friend who used to say that New York City is most beautiful in the winter and most fun in the summer. I can’t think of anything more true. Everyday, there is something fun to do with children here in this amazing city during the summer.  That means, that I am always busy and I must stay prepared. Wipes became one of my good old trusty friends a few years ago when I had my very first child and that haven’t changed since. Although, my days of walking around with pampers are probably coming to an end soon with The Super Knight now potty training himself, my days with wipes are far from over because kids outgrow diapers not messes.

I mentioned earlier this year, that I love Huggies wipes especially their adorable clutches as a busy NYC mom. These days, I am huge fan of Huggies Simply Clean Wipes. I am particularly loving the triple clean layers allowing you to safely use them on your kid’s face, hands and bottom.

So here are 5 tips for surviving NYC summer with Huggies wipes:

    1. Keep wipes on hand for potty trained kids to use public bathrooms. If you’re going to be visiting NYC with your children let me go ahead and prevent some culture shock right now. New York City have a population of over 8 million people, let’s add lots of tourists and business travelers and well it’s just lots of people in a very small geographic location. That’s what makes the energy of this amazing city dynamic but it’s also the reason that you’ll find public bathrooms sometimes at their worst. I will admit that in the past few years things have improved but it’s not unusual to find public bathroom that’s dirty and ran out of toilet paper. Make sure you have wipes on hand for those unfortunate moments so you can clean your kiddies up.

    2. In my opinion, you can find some of the best playgrounds in New York City. I mean where else in the world can your kids play in the shadows of Wall Street building? or with the most magnificent skyline in front of them. Sometimes playgrounds double as hangout spots for teenagers at night and that can mean random and sometimes questionable things around. I try not to be too paranoid and stick to giving my kids a shower when they get home from playing and washing hands before leaving the park but in the moment I wipe down swings, poles or monkey bars if they look sketchy. That’s where Huggies wipes come in handy. Mr. Rattles caught me red handed last weekend. Walking around the park with the wipes in my hands cleaning the playgound for my kiddies to play. I’m not the least bit embarrassed.

    3. As I mentioned, in my post where I shared tips on taking the subway with kids  you can’t ever go wrong with wipes on the Subway. Somehow, those bright train lights puts the little milky mustache above The Super Knight’s mouth that went on blast and having wipes mean I can quickly clean him up. Plus, you just never know what may come up on the Subway, so it’s nice to be prepared.

    4. Enjoying the city means meals on the run, whether it’s a snack I packed or a resturant we head to. Wipes come in handy to clean dirty hands, messy mouths and of course spills on their my kids clothing. I’ve noticed that my son, loves to grab onto my clothes the minute that his hands get dirty so I’m constantly armed with wipes to clean my clothes too.

    5. Getting around town especially with kids who loves to run in the summer means lots of sweat. Both of my kids clearly didn’t inherit my island girl love for heat. They sweat and complain that they’re hot. The Super Knight is always coming over to me “Mama, I hot!” with sweat dripping down his cheeks or his sister after riding her scooter and taking off her helmet. I use Huggies wipes to clean their little faces and foreheads and cool them down a bit.

What are your favorite uses for wipes besides diaper changes?

How to Make A Baby Mobile | Disney Minnie Mouse Inspired!

It’s no secret that I love babies and a while back, I posted about the fabulous baby shower that I co-hosted for one of my friends. Her baby girl is now here and every time she sends me a photo of her little princess my heart melts. As adorable as she is, she wants to sleep on mommy and she wants nothing to do with her crib. As a mom of two, I know all about babies sleeping better on mommy than in their crib. I wanted to make her crib so comfortable with a DIY nighty night gift that would help her feel more comfortable in her crib and to get away from mommy.

To really bring things together, I decided to also make her a DIY Minnie Mouse Inspired Mobile so she can sleep peacefully. This was such a fun DIY and it was a bit faster than I anticipated. I am really proud of the results, it all came together lovely and mommy and baby loves it.

    Cardstock Paper

    Crafting Ring

    Scissors

    Ribbon

    Glue gun

    Diamond Decals

    Instructions:

    1. Trace and cut out shapes in desired size out of the cardstock paper. You can use a Minnie Mouse template if you desire.

    2. I did the bow separately since I wanted to make them a different color.

    3. Attach bow to Minnie Mouse Silhouette and add diamond decal to the middle.

    4. Cut ribbons at desired lengths and attached to craft ring.

    5. Using a hot gun, glue the shapes to ribbons. I chose to cut the ribbons at different lengths and attached them but you cut all at the same length if you so desire.

    6. Once you’re finished attaching the ribbons and shapes to craft ring, glue tulle to the top so you can hang it. Make sure to secure the tulle properly with glue so it doesn’t fall and allow it to dry completely before hanging it up.
