  • Post-Vacation Cleaning With Tide purclean

This post was sponsored by NEW! Tide purclean as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central.

If you’ve noticed things were a bit quiet around here lately it’s because I took the past week off to enjoy our family trip to Chicago. Chicago was a whole lot of fun but we came back with so much dirty laundry that the post-vacation cleaning had me feeling a bit overwhelmed.

In our home, we all have our roles. The kids dirty the clothes, I sort the laundry while my husband is the guy responsible for taking them to the laundromat (yes, laundromat because we live in New York City). Once he’s back with the clean laundry we sometimes sit together and chat while folding together or most other times he falls asleep and I end up doing it all by myself.

I’m also responsible for purchasing laundry detergent and other cleaning products. I’m really conscious about the cleaning products that we use so I was happy to try the new Tide purclean detergent.  According to the brand “This formula is made with 100% renewable electricity” and made at a zero manufacturing waste to landfill site.

If you follow me on Snapchat you know that I am at Target all of the time, and that’s my favorite places to shop for all things household. I easily found the Tide purclean detergent, the very first bio-based laundry detergent on sale at Target. Score!

    Tide Purclean Target

My husband is of the “If it’s not broken don’t fix it” school of thought so he wasn’t as open about trying Tide purclean which is made from 65% bio-based ingredients. That’s fair since if the clothes weren’t clean it would be his job to wash them again and who wants to do that? On the other hand, I trusted the Tide brand enough to believe they wouldn’t make a product that wouldn’t live up to the Tide reputation. Our Chicago styled pizza grease and ice cream stains were the perfect test.

I think worrying about whether or not a more environmentally conscious product would be as effective as the old products is a normal concern. When I switched shower cleaner for instance, I worried that without the strong chemical odors I was used to, my shower would never be as clean again. I was glad to be wrong and to see that a more conscious product choice didn’t take away from the cleanliness of my shower.

Just like the shower cleaners, Tide purclean turned out to be very effective. We’re happy that we get to keep the memories of Chicago without the stains.

  • Growing Fast with Loteda + Loteda Coupon Code

This post is in partnership with Loteda, a brand I enjoy and wanted to share. As usual, all opinions expressed are my own.

I was up late last night writing in my journal because I was filled with so much gratitude and happiness! I never in a million years imagined that children would bring me this type of joy but that’s what they consistently do. Yesterday, I spent a fun filled day with them and if you follow us on Snapchat you know there wasn’t a dull moment.  They were excited, bossy, adventurous, funny and sometimes really bratty. Three years ago when my son joined our little family, I had no idea how I would manage a baby and a toddler. At the time, their almost three-year age gap seemed so much wider, they had nothing in common but as I write this a few weeks shy of my son’s third birthday I am proud to say, The Super Knight is catching up to his sister.

These days they do everything together. The Princess Fairy likes to hug him and remind him that she’s a “good big sister” while he enjoys doing special things for her like lining up her dolls for their weekly birthday parties, practicing ballet with her and sharing his snacks (he hates sharing snacks with anyone else). He also looks out for her when she’s missing out. For instance, if I privately offer him an ice pop, he would yell out to her “Come now!”

He’s also catching up to her in height.  In the past few months, he’s outgrown his clothes rapidly. A pair of trousers will fit one day and the next day it would be capris. His sister has always been tall for her age, him not so much so these growth spurts caught me off guard.

Figuring out what to do with all the clothing that no longer fits him and constantly buying him pieces can be annoying, costly and time-consuming. Instead of stressing about this, I recently turned to Loteda, a site perfect for parents with kids sizes NB to 5T/5 (you know the years of frequent growth spurts). Loteda gives parents the chance to not only buy but also sell “gently-loved” children’s clothing by the LOT.

Each LOT  is described as “A season’s worth of outfits, curated by stylists and sold for one low price” by Loteda.

We received our first LOT last week and my son was really excited for me to open it up.  When I finally did his biggest cheerleader, his sister was there as he tried on his “Better Catch Up” T-shirt which really emphasizes where he is right now, growing quickly. Our LOT came with two shirts and two pairs of shorts that could be worn interchangeably giving him a total of 4 outfits in just one LOT. Our favorite look is this no-fuss funny graphic tee and khaki shorts he’s wearing in these photos. We’re heading out of town this weekend and my little guy will definitely be wearing an outfit from his LOT as he explores a new city.

Our LOT was well worth it and I saw no signs that the clothing was worn before. The colors were bright and vibrant and the quality was good.

I haven’t used Loteda to sell as yet but I plan to when I return from our trip and I have some extra time. Loteda does all of the work for sellers by doing the styling, photographing, pricing, listing, payments, shipping, etc. and you receive 60% of the resale price. You can read the seller guide here.

Loteda is sweet enough to offer my readers a nice discount of 25% off all orders until 9/21/2016. If you have kids who wear sizes newborn to size 5, take advantage of this wonderful site. Use the code RATTLESANDHEELS for your special discount.

  • 3 Tips For A Pretty Great Family Trip to Philadelphia + 2016 Events Printable

I am an influencer ambassador for Embassy Suites by Hilton #PrettyGreat campaign to inspire your family travel. As usual, all opinions expressed are my own.

It’s no secret that we LOVE Philly! Philadelphia is kid-friendly yet cool enough for a hip mama like me. Let’s be honest, sometimes kid-friendly means adult torture but Philly offers goodies for everyone in the family. Our family created so many good memories in Philly last summer that I wanted to share a few secrets and tips for a pretty great family trip to Philadelphia in 2016:

[Tweet “3 Insider Tips For A Pretty Great Summer 2016 Family Trip to Philadelphia “]

    1. Skip Using Your Car

One of my secrets for having a fun-filled family trip to Philadelphia last year was leaving the car at the hotel and using the Philadelphia Phlash Bus to get around. With the Phlash Bus, we didn’t have to worry about finding parking or paying parking fees. The buses were really easy to use, on schedule, clean and stroller friendly. The bus is also really economical and you have the option of purchasing day passes if you plan on visiting a few attractions.

    2. Location.

A little research can go a really, really long way when planning your family trip to Philadelphia. Take a few minutes to decide what you would like to do during your family trip to Philadelphia and then choose a hotel that’s located close to most of those attractions. philadelphia-city-view

For our next trip to Philly, we plan to stay at Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Center City which is centrally located between everything we want to do. We actually spotted the hotel during our last visit and you can even spot it in the photo I took above. It’s located on the iconic Benjamin Franklin Parkway and is an all-suite hotel with a large private balcony in each suite, two flat-screen TVs, and a kitchenette which will make the trip very economical especially for bigger families. I love the privacy of a two room suite with sofa bed so kids and adults can enjoy separate spaces. Since breakfast is included and there is an evening reception daily, this will cut back on the cost of food for the trip.

My family will be able to walk to attractions like Logans Circle, Eakins Oval, Rocky Statue, The Franklin Institue and The Academy of Natural Sciences.  We can take a quick ride on the Phlash bus to the Philadelphia Zoo and Please Touch Museum.

    3. Plan your trip around summer events

Philly is always fun for families but it’s nice to experience some of the special summer events while you’re there. So, I did a little research and found 5 fun events happening in Philadelphia during summer 2016 that I think will be fun for families. To make this easy for your trip planning I made this printable that can be download here.
