Harmony over Balance: Why I Stopped Trying to Balance it all

If you’re already following me over on Instagram, I shared that my theme for the year is Harmony. Harmony came to me about a week ago, I was taking a shower and thinking about all of the things I was considering doing this year, along with all of my commitments both personal and professional. If I do everything, I’m sure to be overwhelmed and if I don’t—well, I’m sure to be unhappy. So what’s the middle ground? I have to strive for harmony.

If I do everything, I’m sure to be overwhelmed and if I don’t—well, I’m sure to be unhappy.

Harmony over Balance: Why I Stopped Trying to Balance in all

How about just balancing it all?

Years, ago I would have strived for balance instead of harmony. I could work hard, mom hard, wife hard—women have done that for centuries. Well, that’s what it looked like when I was younger and what I thought when I first became a mom. A few years ago, I discovered it just doesn’t work that easily. Some of you may even remember when I wrote this post about balancing it all, but with more motherhood experience, my thoughts have changed, although the tips I shared can still make a big difference in your life. I found that it just took one small life issue (which is bound to happen) to upset that system.

Balance is a unicorn.

Balance is a unicorn; it will never happen. We will be forever trying to find it but never quite getting it right. So that’s where harmony comes into play.

Why I Stopped Trying to Balance in all!

Striving for harmony is less stressful.

Harmony, to me, represents a beautiful & peaceful combination of all aspects of myself in alignment with my creator through my intuition. Balance is a unicorn—it’s not worth the stress &/or anxiety. Harmony is a different energy; it’s release.

I want to live in harmony with everything that encompasses my life! I want to always focus on finding ways to ensure my life doesn’t feel chaotic or stressful. I think many of us are struggling with anxiety because we are constantly trying our best to balance it all (and prove that we can). When I read former First Lady Michelle Obama’s book Becoming, I realize that if she couldn’t do it, then no one in the world was balancing it all. No matter how good it looked from the outside because *even* Mrs. Obama had some really tough days as a mom.

I hope this post takes a little of the stress off of your shoulders to try to achieve balance. Let me know your thoughts below.
