DIY No Sew Clutch

Whew, we are in the middle of November! Do you believe it? The past few months have been a big beautiful blur for me especially getting my daughter settled into life as a Kindergartener and part-time ballerina as she likes to think of herself. I’ve found myself on the go, much more than usual so I’ve sought out ways to organize my life. Every mom knows that a disorganized purse can turn our world upside down. I’ve been using this DIY clutch to stash all of my healthy essentials. I wanted to share how I made it so you too can have this beautiful clutch. This is a very easy DIY no-sew clutch tutorial that can be completed in less than 20 minutes.

But first, let me share my current purse essentials!

I got these three purse essentials at the pharmacy section at Walmart. Sometimes, the stress of balancing it all ~~and skipping meals~~ results in a headache. I’ve been carrying with Advil Tablet Vial for those really tough headaches that tons of water can’t fight off. “The original round tablets providing safe, effective pain relief for over 25 years. Centrum Mint multivitamins is another current favorite and I pop them daily. I expected them to have a chalky taste, but I was pleasantly surprised by that they taste like a regular mint. Now, let’s make a DIY No Sew Clutch!

You’re going to need:
To make this clutch:
1. Cut a piece of vinyl 11 inches x 15 inches.
2. Fold over the vinyl 5 at inches
3. Use a glue gun to stick both sides.
4. Press down until both sides firmly stick to each other.
5. Allow to dry.
This clutch is perfect for stashing all of your purse essentials. You can slip it in all of your favorite tote bags or rock it by itself.

Family Movie Night With Printable Movie Tickets

Lately, I’ve been staring at my kids in disbelief! They’re growing up so quickly. I know this sounds cliché, as every parent says it, but I can’t believe that my babies are no longer babies. I have a kindergartner and a toddler and before you know it they will progress to the next stage. Don’t get me wrong, I am very proud of them; but one of my biggest fears is that they will grow up and I won’t get to spend enough quality time with them. That’s why I am intentional about carving out family time in hopes of creating memories that will make them smile when they reminisce about their childhood. Our family loves to snuggle up to a good movie, so last Sunday I decided to throw a cute family movie night inspired by our outdoor movie night experience in Boston. I wanted to share all the fun with you so that you too can plan a family movie night. So here’s everything that I did:

Sign

I figured that our family movie night would be more fun if the anticipation was built up over a few days so I made a really cute sign announcing the time and place of our family movie night. I used a chalkboard sign and just decorated it in a fun way.

Printable Movie Tickets

To add a little extra fun to our family movie night, I made printable movie tickets for the four of us. I gave them to the kids a few hours before the movie and they were super careful not to lose them. My daughter was sweet enough to hold on to her brother’s. You can download the movie tickets here and use them for your family movie night too.

Popcorn

When it comes to movies, it’s all about having the PERFECT popcorn. My kids are serious popcorn lovers and if you ever want to see them quiet, just place a bowl in front of them. Movie night is the perfect excuse for them to dig into their favorite popcorn — Orville Redenbacher’s Movie Theater Butter Popcorn. They love hearing it pop up in minutes as well as its light and fluffy flavor. I decided to serve it in popcorn boxes that my little ones could grab like they did at the Boston outdoor movie night event.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I baked a fresh batch of yummy chocolate chip cookies with the help of The Princess Fairy. Chocolate chip cookies are our family’s favorite cookie. Not only do we love the taste, but baking them also makes our home smell really comfortable and inviting.

Milk

The kids needed something to sip on with their Orville Redenbacher’s Movie Theater Butter Popcorn and chocolate chip cookies, so I poured milk bottles tied with pretty ribbons and inserted matching paper straws.

Indoor String Lights

We love string lights and use them all year round. They are the perfect finishing touch to make any event feel festive. I think the string lights really brought everything together and made our family movie night feel like a real event.

New Movie

I chose a movie that none of us saw before so we could enjoy it all together and no one would get bored. Watching a new movie gave us the chance to bond over something new and we’ve been chatting and joking about it all week.

Once you have all of these elements together, you can go ahead and enjoy a fabulous family movie night. It’s easy, inexpensive and the memories you will create with your family will be priceless.

Martha Stewart American Makers Meetup Recap

Most of you know me for my DIYs and creative projects that I love to share on here. Well, one of the women who inspire me to embrace my creativity and love of creating is Martha Stewart. I love that as a woman she’s carved out a space for creative people to live and thrive. Noting my admiration for Martha Stewart, imagine my excitement when I learned about her American Made Chelsea Maker Meetup sponsored by The UPS Store. I just had to attend and I basically sent in my RSVP within a minute of receiving the email.

The event attracted many small businesses from around New York with a cool range of products from children’s toys to (lots) yummy food. I spent most of my time at American Makers hanging out at The UPS Store Prints to Live booth because they had two things that I absolutely love — illustrations and quotes. They gave everyone the chance to get their favorite quote illustrated on the spot and framed very nicely.

All we did was fill out a form with our favorite quote and select a background color and then the illustrator worked her magic.

I chose the quote “If you can dream it, you can do it” by Walt Disney and a blue background which I selected as a representation of my Caribbean heritage.

I enjoyed watching the illustrator bring the quotes to life and background colors everyone chose. It was an inspiring event and if you follow me on Instagram, you’d probably know that I won a ticket to attend Martha Stewart’s Makers Summit this weekend. Of course, Martha Stewart was in attendance and it was just awesome to soak up the energy of being in the same room with her.

Meeting so many entrepreneurs at the event made me think about my friend who just rebranded her Brooklyn trendy cupcakes business — Cakedup Couture. I love her new branding and was excited to print new cards that reflected her business look at The UPS Store.

The cool thing about The UPS Store is that, it’s not only for shipping but you can also print materials for your business in store and online which is perfect for small businesses.

I decided to do a bit of both since she needed lots of cards for events and networking but couldn’t wait for the big order to come in. I printed a small batch for her at The UPS Store in my neighborhood and ordered more online.
