Father's Day Idea: Message In A Bottle

Last week, I posted my Father’s Day gift guide and guess what I accomplished this week? I got Mr. Rattles one of his gifts for Father’s Day. It all started when I attended the Camp Macy’s event on Sunday. I spent almost one hour on the counters at Macy’s smelling a whole bunch of different colognes. I wanted to find a scent that really fit Mr. Rattles personality and taste. After trying Nautica Life and really loving it, I went back on Monday with The Princess Fairy and after a few sniffs she agreed that “Daddy is going to love it!” I was happy that I was able to get him the gift set for $65 down from the regular price of $128 and included 3.4 oz Eau de Toilette, 2.5 oz Aftershave Balm, 2.5 oz Shower Gel, and 1 oz Eau de Toilette.

My kids are terrible at keeping secrets, they reveal hiding spots within seconds or promise there is no secret indicating there is a secret. Since, I knew there would be no way The Princess Fairy would not let him know about the gift before Father’s Day, I decided to make it part of our family beach day fun and gift it to him early. She had already started dropping hints so I had no choice.

Since we were giving him his gift early, I wanted it to be a fun experience. To make it memorable, I included her in setting things up. Thankfully, I have a huge beach bag that I was able to stash everything in. Once we got to the beach he took The Super Knight for a walk down the shore and that’s when The Princess Fairy and I got to work. We buried his gifts and then texted him a few clues.

Before he came back we added a special touch – a message in a bottle. With the naval inspiration for the Nautical Life, I thought that a message in a bottle would be a thoughtful way to communicate how happy we are to have him sailing through LIFE with us.

Messages in bottles are one of the oldest forms of communication and one that kept memories alive for generations and cross oceans. I knew he would appreciate a message in a bottle in lieu of a card plus it will be fun to display next to his colognes.

Mr. Rattles is an adventurer at heart so he had a blast following our clues and finding his Nautica Life gift set and message in a bottle. As The Princess Fairy predicted he loved it!
