  • MY BABY’S BEDTIME ROUTINE

I partnered with Pampers to share my baby’s bedtime routine. All opinions are my own.

About a month after I had my first child, a friend called and told me that she was in my area and wanted to stop by to see the baby. She asked me if that was okay and of course, I said yes. The thing is, it was already around my daughter’s bedtime and of course she wasn’t fun. She cried and fussed the entire time and since I didn’t want to make my friend upset I didn’t tell her that her timing was just terrible. I felt like a lousy mom in that moment and vouched to never upset my children’s bedtime routine again even if Beyoncé showed up to meet my baby — okay, I’ll make an exception for Beyoncé. I’ve stuck to the bedtime routine that I started 7 years ago with my daughter with lots of tweaks along the way as technology and our family dynamic evolved. So here is my baby’s bedtime routine:

    Kick off with a Bath.

Only within the last few weeks, I moved the baby’s bathtime to bedtime. I always gave my babies baths at 11:00 am. Moving her bath to bedtime is much better since the warm water makes her really relaxed.

Treat your baby to an infant massage.

After drying her up and moisturizing her skin, I’ve been treating her to an infant massage. This is also a new addition to our bedtime routine.  I recently took the Pampers #SleptLikeThis Sleep Personality quiz and learned that she sleeps like a Koala and massages are great to get Koalas drowsy. I had no idea how to do it so I called my cousin who is a pediatric nurse and she showed me over FaceTime how to do it effectively. She hasn’t fell asleep from one of my massages yet but she definitely seems quiet and happy.

Dress baby for a comfortable night’s rest.

Don’t judge me but my baby doesn’t always sleep in pajamas, it really depends on the temperature. I keep her in light breathable clothing and in Pampers Baby-Dry diapers. Actually, I’ve been using Pampers brand diapers on my kids since day one on this motherhood journey at the hospital 7 years ago, it seems like we always have a big green box around my apartment. I trust Pampers Baby-Dry for bedtime because although she urinates much more frequently at night, we don’t have problems with leaks thanks to the diaper’s design and its Extra Absorb Channels. I don’t ever have to worry about her delicate skin in a wet diaper that would make her feel uncomfortable and wake up. The best part is that even though they can be used for up to 12 hours they’re very thin and not super bulky.

    Get some cuddle time.

Next, we have some form of cuddle time. I may read her a book, file her nails, play with her or dance with her. It really depends on the day and the mood we’re both in.

    Bedtime feeding.

Once she seems tired or she shows signs that she’s hungry I nurse her. Most nights she falls asleep while I’m nursing her but I absolutely love when she doesn’t and I can lay her down in her crib to fall asleep on her own. To ensure she doesn’t get right back up, I immediately put on her nightlight and noise machine.

Some nights I rush through this routine while on other nights I skip steps and there are days when I stretch them out. It really depends on what’s going on but I think we both enjoy this bedtime.

Be sure to take the Pampers #SleptLikeThis sleep personality quiz to get tips that you can incorporate into your bedtime routine and let me know what animal your baby sleeps like.

  • How to Keep Your Baby’s Clothes Like-New

This post is sponsored by Dreft Laundry Stain Remover! As always, all opinions shared are based on my personal experience.

I should be a bit ashamed to admit this but it’s said that the truth will set you free. While I was pregnant with my first child, my mom came over and packed up all of her clothes and took them home with her and started doing her laundry. Yes, my mom did all of my daughter’s laundry. She didn’t just wash them, she ironed and folded them too. You read ironed correctly! Needless to say, my oldest daughter’s baby clothes were good as new when she grew out of them. By the time my son came around my mom’s schedule had changed and my husband had grown to enjoy doing laundry so he took over the reins and I did the folding. Again, our son’s clothes were in great condition, I even kept a few pieces that the new baby now wears. We agreed since we first started this parenting journey to not go overboard on purchasing baby clothes since they grow out of them so quickly. We’ve focused on keeping the clothes in the best condition possible instead of buying too much. Whether you’re saving clothes because you plan to have more children, you want to donate them or you just want your child’s clothes to look fresh, I wanted to share a few things I’ve learned over the years to keep baby clothes like new:

    Follow the care instructions.

The top way to keep your baby’s clothing in like-new condition is to follow the manufacturer’s care instructions on the clothing label. This label will let you know if it should be hand washed, dry cleaned or machine washed and if so the water temperature as well as drying instructions. If the article of clothing doesn’t have a label, you can check out the brand’s website or contact them for care instructions.

Attack stains with Dreft Laundry Stain Remover.

You can’t keep baby clothes like new without a good stain remover! When I think about baby laundry, the Dreft brand pops into my head. It’s been a beloved staple since my mom was doing my first child’s laundry. First of all, Dreft products smell amazing! If you ask any mom she would tell you about that smell. But it’s not just the scent that I love, it’s how well they work. The laundry detergent leaves the baby’s clothes very soft and clean, and the Dreft Laundry Stain Remover works like a charm to get rid of common baby stains.

    Baby's Clothes Like-New

Babies don’t do much, so first-time parents may be surprised to learn how much baby stains they will encounter from spit up, diaper leaks, and the occasional massive diaper blow-out. These can be the end of your baby’s cute wardrobe if you don’t use a stain remover that works well. I’m not one to use products for adults on my baby’s clothes since those products may harm the flame resistance of children’s sleepwear, so I stick with Dreft Laundry Stain Remover.

    Baby's Clothes Like-New

I’ve seen it take care of some stains that I initially thought would require me to throw the clothes away. For instance, a few weeks ago the baby’s diaper leaked and dirtied both her clothes and one of my favorite sweaters. I ran down to our building’s laundry room with the soiled garments expecting the worst but Dreft Laundry Stain Remover worked like magic to get the stains off her clothes and my sweater. It’s such a good product that I must have it on hand at all times.

Line your baby’s laundry basket with a soft fabric.

I LOVE baskets! If you follow my Instagram stories you’ve probably realized this but I’m aware that certain materials that baskets are made of can destroy clothes. Some baskets come with fabric liners that protect your clothes but if not, you can use a laundry bag to line yours like I do. I just use a glue gun to attach it to the inside of the basket.

    Separate clothes by fabric types.

Another thing I do to keep my baby’s clothes like new is to wash different fabric types separately. This way, rough or heavier fabrics wouldn’t damage more delicate fabrics.

Anyway, these are some of the ways that I’m keeping my baby’s clothes like new. I’m always open to learning tricks from other moms, so please leave your tips below.

  • 5 Reasons You Can Never Have Enough Onesies

This post is in partnership with ONESIES® brand baby apparel. As always, all opinions are my own.

    Laundry! Oh the Joy…

I was folding my baby’s laundry and complaining about the number of onesies she uses in one week. I started to wonder if it’s just that I’m extra but my friend who came by the meet the baby assured me that she went through just as much if not more when her son was a baby. I never really thought about how much onesies babies really use but the more I thought about it the more I realize why we can never have enough. So today, I’m partnering with ONESIES® brand to share a few reasons why you can never have enough onesies:

1.Spit-up is the Name of the Baby Game.

Back when I was a first-time mom, I assumed that breastfed babies didn’t spit up. Girl, I was wrong, my first baby would spit up slightly that I wouldn’t even notice. Then one day I noticed that one of her onesies felt a bit hard around the neckline and upon further inspection realized it was dried spit-up. I felt terrible that I didn’t realize it right away but I took it as a learning experience to always check my baby neckline for spit-up.

    2.Blowouts Happen!

With a newborn, you could find yourself in the catastrophe of a blowout so it’s always great to have extras on hand. Onesies are also perfect for containing those blowouts.

    3.Baby, It’s Cold Outside

It’s cold now, I’m talking freezing temperatures today but that doesn’t mean that baby doesn’t have to get outside. I bundle her up and dress her in layers always using onesies for her first layer.

    4.Cuteness Overload

I love to see my baby in her onesies from the classic whites to fun colors, it’s the baby basic we can’t get enough of.

5.Onesies Are always in the Budget

Onesies are inexpensive so you can continuously stock them. I love purchasing the ONESIES® brand bodysuits at Walmart because I get bang for my dollar. Spending less on basics and layering pieces like these good quality onesies is a win for me.

Anyway, those are my reasons why as a mom I can never have enough onesies.

    What are yours?
