Remember last week, I told y’all about the super fabulous Get Glam and Get Going VIP Party at Macy’s? Well, it went down yesterday and I shared all of the fun highlights and fashion on Snapchat. Those of you who follow me, did you catch granny dancing with the model? So cute.

For my look, I decided to go all black. Who said you can pull off dark colors in the spring, it’s all about having fun with fashion for me and I was just in the mood for all black chicness. I reworked this Zara faux leather skirt that I wore here and paired with a blazer and ankle boots. Of course, I added a pop of color with the statement necklace and favorite Kate Spade bag.

There were so many pieces that grabbed my attention. My favorite was definitely this look!

First of all, can we talk about these Steve Madden silk lace boots? You can gawk or treat yourself to them here. I love them! The model who I quickly made friends with for all the real scoop told me that they felt super comfy. I think they ‘re hot and the stylist for date night and I love how the stylist paired them with this breezy mint green high low dress. Truly a breath of fresh air!

Another favorite was this yellow clutch bag by Sam Edelman that really caught my eye so if anyone is looking to get me a gift, I would gladly accept. I love the tribal inspired look and bright colors that are reminiscent of my Caribbean heritage.

Which of these are your favorites? Would you rock all black in the spring?

  • Boston Children’s Museum

As I mentioned before, my family visited Boston recently and during that trip we had the awesome opportunity to visit the Boston Children’s Museum to share our experience with you. This was one of the most highly anticipated museum visits for our family thus far. I heard many great things about the Boston Children’s Museum and it’s rated one of the best museums for kids in the country. So my kids had to go!

We arrived on a rainy Sunday morning and we were thrilled to find some indoor fun/learning. The kids immediately ran to check out the Investigate exhibit, which I loved because that it provided so much hands-on learning that was fun. If you can’t tell, I am a huge fan of learning through play since I believe that the more kids learn in a fun and exciting environments the more they will want to learn.

They loved seeing all the animals up close especially the reptiles like snakes and turtles. My daughter especially enjoyed laying down under the turtle tank to watch the turtles in their recreation of their habitat.

My son’s favorite was the Raceways because as I’ve shared before he loves making things move, speed and spin. He was focused and observant, I loved how it captured his interests in an age-appropriate way. Plus I’m not mad that he’s developing his STEM skills as a toddler.

Next we headed to the Arthur® and Friends exhibit, The Princess Fairy was really excited about this one since she loves the show. I thought that this exhibit was perfect for her as a Kindergartener. She had some fun learning about the distance between different cities and spotting them on the map while she flew a plane across the United States. Another highlight was joining Arthur® and Friends on-screen to singthe show’s iconic theme song “Believe in yourself.”

There were plenty opportunities for her to practice and reinforce some of the words that she is learning in Kindergarten. She was also excited to check out Arthur’s class and point out the ways it’s similar or different from her own class.

Next we checked out the Kid Power exhibit which was perfect for my very active kiddos. They were able to do some rock climbing, use their feet to light up the dance floor and pull themselves up using a pulley. They had fun, but more importantly they learned that even as children, their bodies are very powerful.

The Boston Children’s Museum is big and had a few more exhibits that we didn’t get to investigate during this trip. If you are traveling to Boston with children, I would highly recommend visiting this BCM. We’re looking forward to taking in more of the exhibits at this museum the next time we’re in town.

Which exhibits do you think your children would enjoy most at the Boston Children’s Museum?

Disclaimer: Admission was provided for our visit to the Boston Children’s Museum. However,  all opinions expressed are my own.

  • 5 Things to do with Kids in NYC in the Fall

It’s time to plan some fall fun activities for the kids and for those of you in New York City, I wanted to share all the cool things that we plan on getting into this season. We love the fall especially the food, festivals and family fun across the city. We plan to get out as much as possible and make the best of the weather before it gets really cold. In a big city like NYC there is so much to do that it can get overwhelming, so I wanted to make life really simple for you by sharing 5 things to do with kids in NYC in the fall:

1.Children’s Museum of the Art festivals

    childrensmuseumofarts

We visited the Children’s Museum of the Arts in Soho for the first time a few weeks ago and the kids loved it. This is going to be one of our favorite museums to hang out in during the Fall. My kids didn’t want to leave after making animals at the clay bar, beating drums at Wee Arts session and playing in the ball pond.

My daughter still has her clay leopard on display on her bookcase.

This fall there will be two really cool festivals at the Children’s Museum of the Arts; the West African Cultural Festival on September 20th, 10 AM – 5 PM and the Caribbean Cultural Festival on October 25th. You can find out more about the festivals and the Children’s Museum of the Arts on their website here.

    2. Sesame Place: The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular

Escape the city and head out to Langhorne, PA for Sesame Street: The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular. It’s about two hours drive from the city, so make sure to hit the highway very early so you don’t get stuck in traffic. If you watched my October Vlog last fall (you can watch it here), you would be familiar with all the fun we had there and we plan to go again this year. The kids loved getting dressed up in their costumes, the fun parades, maze, rides and the amusement park treats. My daughter couldn’t stop singing the song from the Neighborhood Street Party for days. We happened to go on a Saturday with really beautiful fall weather which made the day even more awesome. There is a Starbucks at Sesame Place which made me really happy 🙂 I was also impressed with the attention paid to detail with the Halloween decorations and overall experience. I went with a 7-year-old, 4-year-old and 1-year-old and all three kids had a good time. There was something fun for all of them. The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular opens on September 26th. You can find more information on their website here.

    3. Kidz Bop Concert

Kidz Bop LIVE will be in New York City this fall. My daughter LOVES Kidz Bop as most kids do, if you follow me on Twitter you’ve probably seen my tweets about her requesting to listen to Kidz Bop and singing really loud in the backseat. She’s a self-proclaimed rockstar so I think it’s time that she gets to see the band in person. You can find more information about the concert here.

    4. Dora & Diego: Let’s Explore! Exhibit at Liberty Science Center

I’ve shared how much fun we had at the Liberty Science Center last spring and we plan to visit again this fall to check out the new Dora & Diego exhibit that opens on October 3rd. This will be a great exhibit for The Super Knight but the museum has tons of cool exhibits for the bigger kids too. You can get more information here.

    5. Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

This year, I would love to take my kids to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We’ve never been and I don’t want them to grow up without having this quintessential New York City Thanksgiving experience. Here is some more information about the route and floats that will be participating in this year’s parade.

What do you enjoy doing with your family in New York City during the fall?
